"We Will Build a World Without Charging Stress for Robots and Drones" — COILS CEO Sung-Ryul Huh, Etnews In-Sight Interview

COILS (CEO Sung-Ryul Heo), a company specializing in multi-coil wireless charging technology, was featured in an interview with The Electronic Times (Etnews) in its "In-Sight" series, where the company shared its technology vision and business strategy.

CEO Heo described wireless charging as essential infrastructure for next-generation industries. He introduced two core strengths of COILS: multi-coil technology, which uses several coils to widen the charging area and support many different devices, and "magnetic field beamforming," which creates a magnetic field only where it is needed.

He also announced that COILS recently began developing a system with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) that can charge two humanoid robots at the same time from a single station. The company sees defense as its largest growth market — including patrol drones and quadruped robots that must operate outdoors for long hours — and plans to enter both domestic and global markets after completing military certification and field testing.

"We want to grow beyond selling charging stations into a platform company that provides charging infrastructure," Heo said. He shared his goal of building an ecosystem where robots and drones automatically recharge after a mission and return to work.
