COILS (CEO Sung-Ryul Huh), a company specializing in multi-coil wireless charging technology, had its technology and business vision featured in The Electronic Times (Etnews).

This year, COILS has launched several R&D projects at once — including the DIPS deep-tech startup program, TIPS, an R&D Special Zone project, industry-academia-research collaboration R&D, and a global corporate partnership program — as it begins a full-scale expansion into the charging infrastructure market for robots, drones, and other autonomous mobile systems.

Demonstrating a 600W Swarm Wireless Charging System Through Technology Transfer

The company's core technology, "multi-coil magnetic field control," combines a multi-coil array with a real-time control algorithm. It tracks the position of the receiver in real time and adjusts the current level and phase of each coil. This raises charging efficiency by up to 13 percentage points compared with a single-coil system and cuts leakage magnetic fields by more than 70%. Its biggest strength is that it keeps charging stable even when the transmitter and receiver are misaligned.

COILS offers a wide product lineup, from 100W and 300W single-coil modules to 2kW high-power modules and 3kW multi-coil stations. Building on a technology transfer from ETRI, the company has also secured a 600W swarm wireless charging system — a next-generation solution that powers several robots at the same time from a single transmitter module.

"Through step-by-step development and field testing, our short-term plan is to supply prototypes and win our first customers, and our mid- to long-term plan is to expand our HaaS business model," said CEO Heo. "We will also grow into a data-driven charging platform and move aggressively into global markets."
